A civilian mining complex is a structure civilians build on mineral rich planets and asteroids if you don't yet have a mine on them. It will bring in 125 units of wealth per year per mining complex (regardless of how much minerals are actually being mined out). Alternatively you can "buy" minerals from the "civilians/ind status" tab for 250 units of wealth per year per mining complex in which case each mining complex functions like 10 automated mines. After a colony runs out of minerals the mining complex disappears.

It has been confirmed [1] that

  • the chance of a mining complex appearing at the end of a 5-day period is (Annual Wealth) / 1000000 (one million)
  • the chance of an existing complex being expanded is (Annual Wealth) / 4000000 (four million).

It is as yet unknown what the chances are if a different construction cycles is set. Nor is it known how the colony world is picked.
