Description

A civilian mining complex is a structure civilians build on mineral rich planets and asteroids if you don't yet have a mine on them. After a colony runs out of minerals the mining complex disappears.

It has been confirmed [1] that

  • the chance of a mining complex appearing at the end of a 5-day period is (Annual Wealth) / 1000000 (one million)
  • the chance of an existing complex being expanded is (Annual Wealth) / 4000000 (four million).

It is as yet unknown what the chances are if a different construction cycles is set. Nor is it known how the colony world is picked.

Gathering wealth and resources from a civilian mining complex

The settings are found on the Population screen (F2), Civilians / Ind Status tab.

The default settings for Aurora is to have the CMC paying you some royalties. This gives you a small income of 125 units of wealth per year per mining complex (regardless of how much minerals are actually being mined out).

Alternatively you can "buy" minerals for 250 units of wealth per year per mining complex in which case each mining complex functions like 10 automated mines.

If you buy minerals this way, you will have to direct the Mass Drivers of the CMC toward one of your colonies where you want to stockiple this minerals input. As usual, make sure the target colony also has a mass driver to receive the incoming packets.
