The Corsair was primarily designed as a mothership for a small squadron of five Hazard dropships and provide enough troop capacity for their corresponding five marine companies. These assault carriers saw action during the Kaluga Campaign (2079-2081), assisting in the capture of the Kalugan battlecruiser Namacurra 009, and before that as operating bases for Pathfinder and Pathfinder-A recon fighter craft during the probing of enemy forces.

While shipyard slipways have been retooled to build the Omaha, the class is yet to enter service. The lack of planetary defense centres on the Kalugan homeworld of Kaluga-A II meant the standard Okinawa troop transports could effectively handle the delivery of ground forces to the battlefield without the need of combat drops and, therefore, assault transports. Still, should necessity arise, the Omaha and Okinawa are meant to work together to quickly load brigades into the former's drop pods.
