The aging Cossack line represents mankind's first armed spacecraft. The Cossack-II remains largely outdated, displaced by its missile peers and outclassed by its larger cruiser cousins. The Cossack family holds the dubious honour of being the first to encounter the nefarious alien species commonly known as the Star Swarm. Currently mostly relegated to system defense, its surviving six vessels remain the only shield-less warships in service in the Terran Navy. There are rumours of a successor being in the works, pending some breakthroughs in the energy weapons field.
