Despite being technologically outdated, the Terran Navy's Apollo class of gravitational survey vessels remains the only one in service, with only a single active ship. The conquest of the Kalugan homeworld, Kaluga-A II, in 2080 allowed access to the aliens' impressively-detailed star charts. The Kalugans surprisingly explored and surveyed a considerable amount of systems in their time, so all of a sudden, mankind did not have a pressing need for gravsurvey ships. This is why there's been little interest in developing a newer, more advanced class of such in recent years.
