Following the destruction of the SWC Galileo at the hands of Precursor vessels in Mu Cassiopeiae, the Terran Navy determined the class of the same name needed an urgent upgrade. The Copernicus is the result, boasting the largest, most advanced sensors in the fleet. In an effort to make the ship harder to target and therefore improve its survivability, engineers also included an electronic countermeasures (ECM) module in the design.
