The lightning-quick Hazard is designed to flash through to enemy vessels and deploy a full marine company for boarding actions. While it hasn't seen much action, ten Hazard dropships were responsible for the successful taking of the Kalugan battlecruiser Namacurra 009 during the Kaluga Campaign (2079-2080). While the alien vessel had little value given technological inferiority, its capture proved the effectiveness of fast dropships, not to mention Terran marines, during high-speed boarding insertions.

The class recently received a major engine upgrade, boosting its maximum combat speed from around 18800 km/s to over 24000 km/s.
