This design is classed as a military vessel for maintenance purposes

Able to simultaneously engage 36 missiles every five seconds, the Porcupine class is the backbone of the Terran Navy's fleet missile defense. It nevertheless became involved in the Mu Cassiopeiae scandal, in which Precursor missiles got through Task Force Mu's point-defense net almost unhindered due to calibration errors on the DDEs' gauss turrets and destroyed a Galileo-class SWACS vessel. That critical flaw has since been resolved, but the incident remains an unfortunate black mark on the record.
