Damage calcualtions

"Damage in excess of the HTK is carried forward (less the destroyed component's HTK) to the next component of that type."

I am not certain that the bold part is correct. Which will guaranty that most hit on a crew compartments will blow the whole ship life support. I think that once component is destroyed we are back to the DAC. --Mor (talk) 07:48, 11 February 2016 (PST)

I was taking that directly from the recent topic on ship damage in the mechanics forum, Steve posted that pretty much verbatim. TMarkos (talk) 08:48, 11 February 2016 (PST)
I seen it and agree with sloanjh. It says nothing about damage being carried to the next component of the same type. only that If the damage allocation code "finds that all components of that type have been destroyed, it re-rolls and tries again."
Also it might be useful to mention chance of secondary explosion damage. --Mor (talk) 09:44, 11 February 2016 (PST)
I have been testing this, and while the above is generally true on commercial designs (where large portion of the ship and DAC are dedicated to one component type). I got a cases in which a single hit (101 damage, armor rating 1) destroyed fuel storage 1 out of 1, commercial ion drive 1 out of 3, and Surium harvester 16 out of 28. Which should not be possible.--Mor (talk) 11:34, 12 February 2016 (PST)
Sounds pretty conclusive to me, I'll edit the article. TMarkos (talk) 14:29, 12 February 2016 (PST)
