Teams are accessible from the Teams/ Academy screen and can have a variety of tasks.
Espionage teams gather information on an alien species for use
Diplomatic tries to help relations
Xenologist teams discover and research ruins
Geology will search all across a world you have minerals on to try to find a bit more.
