There are 38 different types of government that you can choose while setting up your game, and which you can freely switch between while in the game itself. The government type that you choose while setting the game up will determine how many tech points you start with, which can be used either by checking the "Assign starting tech points automatically" option on the create game screen, or they can be used as guidelines when giving yourself research with the [[SpaceMaster_Mode]]. Your starting government type also effects your starting installation proportions.

* The government modifiers are Xenophobia / Determination / Trading / Diplomacy / Expansionism / Militancy

Government Modifiers

  • Xenophobia: A rating from 1-100 showing the fear of other races or governments.
  • Diplomacy = A rating from 1-100 showing the ability to persuade other races. This is used to offset the Xenophobia of another race.
  • Militancy = A rating from 1-100 showing the likelihood this race will choose military force to achieve its goals.
  • Expansionism = A rating from 1-100 showing the desire of this race to increase its territory.
  • Determination = A rating from 1-100 showing the determination of this race to proceed with a chosen course of action despite setbacks.
  • Trade = A rating from 1-100 showing the willingness to trade with other races and to establish/allow trading posts.
