To complete a gravitational survey of a survey location, a survey ship needs to accumulate a certain number of survey points. Once the points total has been reached, the survey location may reveal a Jump Point out of the system. One Gravitational Survey Sensor provides one point per hour while the ship is at the location. This process is automatic.

Improved Gravitational Survey Sensors provide two points per hour. Gravitational Survey Sensors are classed as Military, and will make any ship using them require maintenance.
