Deep Space Tracking Stations (DSTS) are installations that provide high-powered passive EM and thermal sensors to a colony. Each tracking station adds a linear amount to the colony's passive sensor strength equal to the racial planetary sensor strength.
Tracking stations can be deployed on empty colonies in strategic locations to provide passive sensor coverage of locations such as jump points and enemy colonies. A colony consisting of just tracking stations is categorized as a Listening Post. Tracking stations do not require population to operate, allowing a listening post to have a small thermal and EM signature.
